February 24, 2026 – New York, USA
The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research (MJFF) has announced that its national educational event series, “Parkinson’s IQ + You,” will arrive in Southern Nevada to support and empower individuals living with Parkinson’s disease (PD) and their care partners. Scheduled to take place in Henderson, Nevada, the free community event is designed to provide patients and families with practical knowledge, research updates, and access to local resources that strengthen disease management and long-term care planning. Since launching in 2019, the initiative has reached more than 23 cities across the United States, helping thousands of people better understand the evolving landscape of Parkinson’s treatment, research participation, and patient advocacy.
Comprehensive Education for Parkinson’s Care
The Southern Nevada event will focus on equipping attendees with actionable information about disease progression, symptom management, and the development of a comprehensive Parkinson’s care team. Interactive panel sessions will address how patients can optimize communication with healthcare providers, including the importance of consulting movement disorder specialists, physical therapists, and speech-language pathologists as part of multidisciplinary care.
Participants will also receive updates on the latest clinical research advancements, including new therapies under investigation and the role of patient participation in accelerating treatment breakthroughs. The Foundation continues to emphasize that informed patients play a critical role in advancing therapeutic innovation, particularly as research pipelines expand with promising disease-modifying strategies.
Accessibility remains a key priority for the event, with accommodations such as assisted hearing devices and live Spanish-language translation services, ensuring inclusivity for diverse patient populations.
Connecting Community and Research Innovation
Beyond educational programming, the event will feature a Parkinson’s Partner Expo, connecting attendees directly with healthcare providers, advocacy organizations, and clinical trial teams serving the Henderson and Las Vegas communities. This networking component aims to strengthen local support systems and foster collaboration between patients, caregivers, clinicians, and nonprofit partners.
Experts participating in the sessions will discuss the scientific momentum driving Parkinson’s research, highlighting how targeted funding and coordinated global collaboration are advancing the understanding of neurodegenerative disease mechanisms. With more than $2.5 billion invested in Parkinson’s research, MJFF continues to play a central role in accelerating therapeutic discovery, improving symptom management tools, and supporting biomarker development initiatives.
The Foundation also promotes patient-centered engagement through research enrollment programs, community fundraising, and policy advocacy efforts. By combining education with real-world action opportunities, Parkinson’s IQ + You aims to transform knowledge into meaningful participation within the broader Parkinson’s ecosystem.
Empowering Patients Through Knowledge and Support
Parkinson’s disease remains a progressive neurological disorder affecting millions worldwide, characterized by motor symptoms such as tremor and rigidity as well as non-motor complications including fatigue, cognitive changes, and mood disorders. While no cure currently exists, advances in neurological research, precision medicine approaches, and clinical trial innovation continue to improve quality of life and long-term outcomes for many patients.
Events like Parkinson’s IQ + You underscore the importance of community-based education in bridging scientific progress with patient experience. By delivering expert-led discussions, facilitating peer connections, and highlighting research participation pathways, the initiative reinforces the message that patients and families are essential partners in the fight against Parkinson’s.
The Southern Nevada event represents another milestone in the Foundation’s mission to accelerate breakthroughs while ensuring individuals living with Parkinson’s feel informed, supported, and empowered throughout their care journey.
