SANTA ANA, Calif., July 2, 2026
NKGen Biotech announced that Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Paul Y. Song, M.D., will present the latest developments on the company’s lead investigational NK cell therapy, troculeucel, at the 2026 BIOCHINA Global Forum, taking place July 9–10, 2026, in Seoul, South Korea. The presentation will focus on the potential of troculeucel in treating Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative disorders, highlighting the company’s ongoing Phase 2 clinical trial and broader development strategy. The event provides an international platform for scientific collaboration and business partnerships across the biotechnology sector.
Phase 2 Alzheimer’s Program Takes Center Stage
During the Cell & Gene Therapy Innovations and R&D Collaboration track, Dr. Song will present an overview of troculeucel, a cryopreserved enhanced autologous natural killer (NK) cell therapy currently being evaluated in a Phase 2 clinical trial for Alzheimer’s disease. The presentation will also discuss the therapy’s potential applications in additional neurodegenerative conditions, including amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), frontotemporal dementia (FTD), and Parkinson’s disease. Troculeucel represents NKGen’s lead investigational program and is designed to harness a patient’s own expanded NK cells to target disease processes associated with neurodegeneration, offering a novel cell-based therapeutic approach.
Global Collaboration and China Regulatory Opportunities
Beyond clinical progress, NKGen Biotech will outline opportunities for expanding development through international collaborations. Dr. Song is expected to discuss China’s evolving regulatory landscape, including policies within selected free-trade zones that may facilitate the development and potential commercialization of innovative therapies already in U.S. FDA Phase 2 clinical trials. The company believes these regulatory frameworks could create opportunities for partnerships with Chinese pharmaceutical companies and contract development and manufacturing organizations (CDMOs). Participation in the BIOCHINA Global Forum also supports NKGen’s broader strategy of strengthening relationships across global biotechnology, manufacturing, and commercialization networks to accelerate the advancement of its clinical pipeline.
Troculeucel Platform Expands Across Neurodegenerative Diseases and Cancer
Troculeucel, formerly known as SNK01, is a patient-specific, ex vivo expanded autologous NK cell immunotherapy being developed for both neurodegenerative diseases and various cancers. The therapy recently received the International Nonproprietary Name (INN) designation from the World Health Organization (WHO), an important milestone supporting future global development. NKGen Biotech continues to advance its innovative NK cell platform through ongoing clinical studies while exploring strategic collaborations aimed at accelerating regulatory, manufacturing, and commercial opportunities worldwide. The company plans to make the presentation available on its website following the conference, alongside previously released scientific data supporting troculeucel’s development in neurodegenerative diseases.
