Catheter Precision, Inc. announced the issuance of two new patents covering key technologies within its VIVO cardiac electrophysiology platform and Cardionomix heart failure program, further strengthening the company’s intellectual property portfolio. The newly granted patents support Catheter Precision’s efforts to advance innovative medical device technologies for cardiac arrhythmia mapping and acute decompensated heart failure treatment, reinforcing its long-term strategy to expand its presence in the growing cardiovascular device market.
European Patent Protects VIVO Technology for Ventricular Tachycardia Mapping
The first patent, European Patent No. 3742967, titled “Precise Localization of Cardiac Arrhythmia Using Internal Electrocardiography Signals Sensed and Stored by an Implantable Device,” provides intellectual property protection for technology designed to identify the precise origin of ventricular tachycardia (VT) using stored electrogram (EGM) data from implantable cardiac devices such as pacemakers and implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs). This represents the first patent protecting Catheter Precision’s approach to guiding VT ablation procedures using internally recorded electrical signals rather than relying solely on body surface mapping. The patent expands the company’s VIVO intellectual property portfolio to 18 patents and patent applications. According to the company, early proof-of-concept has been demonstrated in 10 human patients, with the technology designed to provide physicians with a GPS-like mapping system that may improve the accuracy and efficiency of VT ablation procedures.
Cardionomix Patent Supports Advanced Heart Failure Neuromodulation Therapy
The second patent, titled “Systems and Methods for Denoising Physiological Signals during Electrical Neuromodulation,” strengthens the intellectual property portfolio of Cardionomix, Catheter Precision’s heart failure subsidiary. The patent relates to technology that improves physiological signal processing during electrical neuromodulation therapy targeting nerve ganglia located within the pulmonary artery. This therapeutic approach is intended to restore autonomic nervous system balance in patients suffering from acute decompensated heart failure (ADHF), a condition responsible for more than one million hospitalizations annually in the United States. The newly issued patent expands the Cardionomix portfolio to 33 patents and patent applications, supporting continued development of its investigational heart failure therapy.
Clinical Progress Highlights Potential Across Cardiac Care
Catheter Precision noted that its heart failure program recently reported encouraging findings from the 49-patient STOP-ADHF clinical study, with follow-up conducted at 30 days and six months. The study demonstrated statistically significant improvements across several clinical endpoints, including increased freedom from cardiovascular-related death and heart failure rehospitalization. The company believes these results support the potential of its neuromodulation technology to address an area of substantial unmet clinical need. Meanwhile, the FDA-cleared and CE Mark-approved VIVO™ system continues to provide physicians with a non-invasive three-dimensional imaging solution that identifies ventricular arrhythmia origins before ablation procedures, helping improve workflow efficiency and procedural planning.
