INGELHEIM, Germany, July 15, 2026
Boehringer Ingelheim reported strong financial and operational performance for the first half of 2026, with group net sales increasing 16.2% to EUR 15.8 billion, driven primarily by robust U.S. demand for JARDIANCE® (empagliflozin) and successful launches of JASCAYD® (nerandomilast) and HERNEXEOS® (zongertinib). The company also announced significant progress across its late-stage pipeline, including positive Phase 3 results for survodutide and continued advancement of multiple oncology and metabolic disease programs.
Human Pharma Growth Driven by JARDIANCE and Recent Product Launches
Human Pharma generated EUR 13.1 billion in first-half sales, representing 20.1% growth, with JARDIANCE contributing EUR 5.7 billion in revenue. Strong patient demand, expanding use across chronic kidney disease, type 2 diabetes and heart failure, together with favorable U.S. pricing and reimbursement dynamics, supported continued growth. Newly launched medicines JASCAYD for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) and progressive pulmonary fibrosis (PPF), and HERNEXEOS, an oral therapy for HER2-mutant advanced non-small cell lung cancer, also recorded strong uptake, particularly in the United States, China and Japan.
Pipeline Advances Across Obesity, Oncology and Kidney Disease
Boehringer highlighted important R&D achievements during the first half of 2026. Positive Phase 3 data for survodutide reinforced its potential as a treatment for obesity, metabolic dysfunction and liver disease, while development of a next-generation triple agonist further expanded the company’s metabolic disease portfolio. The company also initiated three Phase 3 oncology trials, advanced investigational assets including obrixtamig for cancer immunotherapy and apecotrep for kidney disease, and added five new compounds to clinical development. Overall, Boehringer’s Human Pharma research pipeline now includes approximately 80 development programs.
Animal Health Business Maintains Momentum with Innovation
The Animal Health division reported EUR 2.6 billion in net sales, reflecting stable performance despite challenging market conditions. The company continued launching innovative products including LENZELTA®, a vaccine for mastitis prevention in dairy cattle, and Eko Vet+™ | CANINEBEAT® AI, an artificial intelligence-based solution for detecting heart murmurs in dogs. Boehringer also supported responses to emerging animal disease outbreaks, including New World screwworm in the United States under FDA Emergency Use Authorizations. Looking ahead, the company expects continued momentum from recent product launches, upcoming clinical milestones and ongoing investments in research and development to support growth throughout the remainder of 2026.
