Organon Canada and Shanghai Henlius Biotech have expanded access to affordable bone health therapies with the Canadian launch of BILDYOS® (denosumab injection) 60 mg/1 mL and TUZEMTY® (denosumab injection) 120 mg/1.7 mL, biosimilars to Prolia® and Xgeva®, respectively. The two biosimilars are now available in Canada for all approved indications of their reference biologics, offering new treatment options for patients with osteoporosis and those experiencing bone-related complications associated with cancer. The launch strengthens Organon’s biosimilars portfolio in Canada to eight products spanning five therapeutic areas, reinforcing the company’s strategy to improve access to high-quality biologic medicines while supporting healthcare sustainability. Developed through a global collaboration between Organon and Henlius, the launch represents another important milestone in expanding affordable biologic therapies for patients requiring long-term bone protection and oncology supportive care.
New Denosumab Biosimilars Expand Treatment Access Across Canada
The introduction of BILDYOS® and TUZEMTY® significantly broadens treatment options for Canadian patients requiring denosumab therapy. BILDYOS®, a biosimilar to Prolia®, is indicated for conditions including osteoporosis, while TUZEMTY®, referencing Xgeva®, supports patients at risk of skeletal-related events associated with advanced cancers involving bone. By increasing the availability of biosimilar alternatives, Organon aims to improve patient access to clinically proven biologic medicines while helping reduce healthcare costs.
Osteoporosis remains a major public health concern in Canada, affecting approximately 2.3 million Canadians, particularly women, who experience a significantly higher lifetime risk of fractures resulting from declining bone density. The availability of additional biosimilar treatment options enables healthcare providers greater flexibility when selecting therapies while helping improve long-term patient access to essential bone-protective medicines.
Strategic Collaboration Strengthens Global Biosimilar Leadership
The Canadian product launch builds upon the 2022 global licensing and supply agreement between Henlius and Organon, under which Organon obtained exclusive commercialization rights for several biosimilars outside China, including BILDYOS® and TUZEMTY®. The partnership combines Henlius’ expertise in biologic drug development and manufacturing with Organon’s global commercialization capabilities, accelerating patient access to high-quality biosimilar medicines across international markets.
The successful Canadian launch reflects the companies’ shared commitment to expanding treatment availability through scientifically rigorous biosimilar development while maintaining comparable efficacy, safety, and quality standards to their reference biologics. The collaboration also supports continued global expansion of biosimilars designed to address growing healthcare demands in oncology, immunology, and chronic disease management.
Biosimilars Continue Driving Affordable Healthcare Innovation
The addition of BILDYOS® and TUZEMTY® further reinforces Organon’s commitment to biosimilar innovation, particularly in therapeutic areas that disproportionately affect women, including osteoporosis. Biosimilars continue to play an increasingly important role in modern healthcare by expanding patient access to biologic therapies while helping healthcare systems manage rising treatment costs without compromising clinical outcomes. With eight biosimilars now available across five therapeutic areas in Canada, Organon continues strengthening its position as a leading provider of affordable biologic medicines.
For patients living with osteoporosis and cancer-related bone disease, the expanded availability of denosumab biosimilars provides physicians with additional evidence-based treatment choices capable of improving long-term disease management. As demand for cost-effective biologic therapies continues to grow globally, the collaboration between Organon and Henlius demonstrates how strategic partnerships can accelerate access to innovative medicines while supporting more sustainable healthcare systems and improving patient outcomes across multiple disease areas.
