Boston, MA – August 14, 2025 – Superluminal Medicines, a pioneering drug discovery company integrating artificial intelligence, machine learning, protein dynamics, and advanced structural biology, today announced a strategic collaboration with Eli Lilly and Company (“Lilly”) to accelerate the development of small molecule therapeutics targeting undisclosed G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) targets for cardiometabolic diseases and obesity.
Under the agreement, Superluminal will leverage its proprietary, structure-based drug discovery platform to identify and optimize small-molecule candidates for GPCR targets historically considered intractable. Lilly will receive exclusive global rights to develop and commercialize compounds arising from the collaboration once Superluminal delivers development-ready candidates that meet predefined criteria.
Financial terms include upfront and near-term payments, an equity investment, and the potential for up to $1.3 billion in total value through development and commercial milestones, as well as tiered royalties on net sales.
“Our collaboration with Lilly is a defining moment for Superluminal and a testament to the power of our platform to deliver high-quality development candidates against historically challenging GPCR targets,” said Cony D’Cruz, CEO of Superluminal Medicines. “Together, we aim to develop next-generation medicines that address the urgent and growing global burden of cardiometabolic disease. This partnership aligns perfectly with our efforts to advance our internal candidate for rare genetic and hypothalamic obesity.”
Superluminal’s platform combines deep structural biology with next-generation computational capabilities, including machine learning-driven pharmacokinetic and toxicology prediction tools, to accelerate the discovery of novel therapeutics. The company’s initial focus on GPCR targets addresses one of the most complex and promising areas in drug development, where precision in functional selectivity is key to therapeutic success.
Headquartered at Lilly Gateway Labs in Boston, Superluminal is backed by a strong network of investors including RA Capital Management, Insight Partners, NVentures (NVIDIA’s venture capital arm), Catalio Capital Management, Eli Lilly and Company, Gaingels, and Cooley.01/
