Beltone has announced Beltone Illuminate™, a new family of premium hearing aids designed to help people with hearing loss hear conversations more clearly in challenging environments. The new hearing-aid platform combines an advanced environmental sound classifier, four-microphone beamforming directionality, and Deep Neural Network (DNN) artificial intelligence noise reduction to automatically adapt to changing listening conditions. Beltone says the technology is designed to reduce distracting background noise while helping users focus on conversations in restaurants, family gatherings, workplaces, and other busy environments. The new product family represents an advancement in AI-powered hearing technology focused on improving clarity, comfort, and everyday communication.
AI Automatically Adapts to Changing Sound Environments
At the center of Beltone Illuminate is True Directionality, an approach to sound processing designed to work with the brain to deliver a more natural listening experience. The technology combines multiple hearing-support functions to automatically respond to changing acoustic environments. Beltone’s AcoustIQ™ technology continuously analyzes the surrounding environment and determines the appropriate level of hearing support, allowing the hearing aids to automatically adjust as users move between quiet and noisy settings.
According to Beltone, AcoustIQ provides 91% precision in real-time environmental sound sensing and feature engagement, which the company says is 88% more accurate than the closest premium solution based on its cited research. The system can automatically engage directionality, background-noise reduction, and optimized gain settings according to the detected listening environment. This approach is intended to reduce the need for users to manually adjust their hearing aids when environmental conditions change. The platform also incorporates Deep Neural Network (DNN) AI noise reduction, which is designed to suppress unwanted background sounds while maintaining dependable all-day performance. Beltone says the automatic activation of DNN denoising is designed to improve hearing in noisy situations without sacrificing battery life.
Four-Microphone Directionality Supports Clearer Conversations
Beltone Illuminate combines four-microphone beamforming directionality with its environmental sound classification and AI-powered noise reduction technology. Together, these technologies are designed to identify and prioritize the sounds users want to hear while reducing distracting environmental noise. The system is particularly focused on everyday situations in which hearing conversations can be difficult, including busy restaurants, meetings, and social gatherings. The company describes the Illuminate platform as being built around its Organic Hearing philosophy, with AI supporting real-time sound processing and automatic feature engagement. Beltone also highlights the introduction of what it describes as the world’s smallest rechargeable Receiver-in-Ear (RIE) AI hearing aid, providing a compact form factor alongside its advanced processing capabilities.
The combination of automated environmental analysis, directional microphones, and AI-based noise reduction is intended to provide users with a more consistent listening experience without requiring frequent manual intervention.
Beltone Illuminate Expands Hearing Aid Options
The Beltone Illuminate product family is scheduled to become available in the United States on August 20, 2026. The lineup will include multiple hearing-aid configurations designed to accommodate different user needs and preferences. Options include rechargeable microRIE and RIE styles, RIE models using ZincAir 312 and 13 batteries, non-wireless Completely-in-Canal (CIC) devices, wireless In-the-Canal (ITC) models, rechargeable ITC devices, and custom-made rechargeable In-the-Ear (ITE) styles.
The launch reflects the continued integration of artificial intelligence, advanced signal processing, and automated environmental sensing into hearing technology. By combining these capabilities in a single hearing-aid platform, Beltone aims to address one of the most common challenges experienced by people with hearing loss: understanding speech and conversations when background noise is present. With its focus on AI-powered noise reduction, automatic environmental adaptation, directional hearing, and compact rechargeable designs, Beltone Illuminate represents a significant development in hearing-aid technology and strengthens the role of intelligent medical devices in supporting everyday communication and quality of life.
