San Francisco, California, U.S., October 7, 2026
AusperBio Therapeutics, Inc. and Ausper Biopharma Co., Ltd. have announced that two abstracts featuring long-term follow-up data for AHB-137, the company’s investigational antisense oligonucleotide (ASO) therapy for chronic hepatitis B (CHB), have been selected for late-breaking oral presentations at The Liver MeetingĀ® 2026, organized by the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD). The annual scientific meeting will take place from November 5 to 9, 2026, in Denver, Colorado. The presentations will report findings from the AB-10-8004 study, which is evaluating long-term outcomes among participants who previously completed AHB-137 clinical studies. The analyses cover two distinct populations: patients previously treated with nucleos(t)ide analogue (NA) antiviral medicines and treatment-naĆÆve participants who received AHB-137 monotherapy. The selected presentations will examine the durability of treatment responses after the earlier studies ended, including findings related to sustained functional cure. The data are expected to provide additional information about the potential durability of AHB-137 treatment responses, an important consideration in the development of therapies aiming to achieve a functional cure for chronic hepatitis B. AHB-137 remains investigational and has not been approved by any regulatory authority.
AHB-137 Long-Term Data Selected for AASLD 2026
The first presentation, publication number 5001, is titled āDurability of AHB-137 up to 9 Month Post End-of-Studies in Nucleos(t)ide Analogue Treated Participants with Chronic Hepatitis B: First Long-Term Follow-up Report from the AB-10-8004 Study.ā It will be presented by Jinlin Hou, MD, of Southern Medical University, Guangdong, China, during the Late Breaking Abstract Parallel Session on November 8, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. Mountain Time. The presentation will examine the durability of responses in participants who previously received nucleos(t)ide analogue treatment and completed AHB-137 clinical studies. The second presentation, publication number 5010, is titled āDurability of Functional Cure to AHB-137 Monotherapy in Treatment-NaĆÆve Participants with Chronic Hepatitis B: Long-Term Follow-Up Results of the AB-10-8004 Study.ā Junqi Niu, MD, of The First Hospital of Jilin University, Changchun, China, will present the findings during Late Breaking Abstract Parallel Session 2 on November 8, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. Mountain Time. This analysis focuses on treatment-naĆÆve participants who received AHB-137 monotherapy. Together, the presentations will address two different clinical populations and provide additional evidence concerning the persistence of treatment responses following the earlier clinical studies. The company plans to release further details after the presentations.
Antisense Therapy Targets Hepatitis B Viral Activity
AHB-137 is an investigational unconjugated antisense oligonucleotide therapy developed using AusperBio’s proprietary Med-Oligo⢠ASO platform. It is designed to suppress the production of hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg), inhibit viral DNA replication and support immune reactivation, with the overall objective of achieving a functional cure for chronic hepatitis B. Unlike treatments that primarily suppress viral replication during ongoing administration, a functional-cure strategy seeks sustained control of infection following treatment, typically involving sustained loss of HBsAg, with or without the development of hepatitis B surface antibodies. Achieving this outcome remains a major challenge in hepatitis B research. AHB-137 has completed a global Phase 1 study and multiple Phase 2 studies, according to the company, and is currently being evaluated in a Phase 3 clinical trial in China. The long-term follow-up analyses may help researchers better understand how responses evolve after previous treatment and whether observed benefits persist over time. However, the clinical significance of the findings will depend on the actual data, study design and duration of follow-up. The selection of abstracts for scientific presentation does not itself establish treatment efficacy or guarantee future regulatory approval.
AusperBio Advances Its Global Hepatitis B Strategy
AusperBio is developing oligonucleotide-based therapeutics and targeted delivery technologies, with an initial focus on achieving a functional cure for chronic hepatitis B. Its development strategy incorporates the Med-Oligo⢠ASO and Au-HALO⢠targeted delivery platforms, supporting research across multiple oligonucleotide modalities. The company aims to advance AHB-137 through clinical development and a coordinated global strategy while exploring opportunities in other disease areas with significant unmet medical needs. The upcoming AASLD presentations provide an opportunity to share long-term clinical observations with hepatologists and researchers involved in hepatitis B treatment development. The key focus will be the durability of AHB-137 responses in both previously treated and treatment-naĆÆve participants. Additional clinical evidence will be needed to determine whether the investigational therapy can consistently achieve sustained functional cure and how it may fit into future treatment strategies. The abstracts are expected to become available through the meeting’s scientific program beginning November 5, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. Mountain Time. The findings may help inform the next stages of AHB-137 development as AusperBio continues to evaluate its potential role in addressing the global burden of chronic hepatitis B.
