Anixa Biosciences announced that it will present updates on its breast cancer vaccine and ovarian cancer CAR-T therapy at the 2026 Cantor Fitzgerald Global Healthcare Conference in New York. The company highlighted clinical progress across both programs, with its breast cancer vaccine moving toward Phase 2 development following completion of a Phase 1 study, while its ovarian cancer lira-cel program continues dose escalation in a Phase 1 trial. The updates underscore Anixa’s focus on developing cancer therapies that combine immune-based treatment and prevention strategies for patients with significant unmet medical needs.
Breast Cancer Vaccine Advances Toward Phase 2
The company’s breast cancer vaccine, being developed in collaboration with Cleveland Clinic, has completed its Phase 1 clinical trial, which was funded by the U.S. Department of Defense. According to Anixa, the study met all primary endpoints, including safety, while protocol-defined immune responses were generated in 74% of participants. The company is now preparing for a Phase 2 clinical trial, representing the next development milestone for the investigational vaccine. The program is designed around Anixa’s broader strategy of developing vaccines that could potentially address both the treatment and prevention of cancer. The company said recent developments in the cancer vaccine field have further highlighted the potential of immune-based approaches, although the Anixa vaccine remains investigational and its efficacy for cancer prevention or treatment has not yet been established.
Ovarian Cancer CAR-T Program Reaches Highest Dose Level
Anixa is also highlighting progress with liraltagene autoleucel (lira-cel), an investigational ovarian cancer cell therapy being developed with Moffitt Cancer Center. The therapy is being evaluated in a Phase 1 clinical trial involving patients with recurrent, resistant ovarian cancer who have received extensive prior treatment and experienced disease progression despite conventional therapies. The study has advanced to its fifth and highest dose cohort evaluated to date, with lymphodepletion introduced for the first time at this stage. Anixa reported that no dose-limiting toxicities have been observed to date. Four patients have survived beyond one year following treatment, with the longest reported survival approaching 28 months. These observations are early clinical findings from an ongoing Phase 1 study and require further evaluation in larger, controlled clinical trials.
