AbbVie announced new oncology research findings ahead of the 2026 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Annual Meeting, highlighting significant momentum across its next-generation cancer pipeline. The company will present multiple oral presentations and scientific posters featuring investigational therapies spanning solid tumors and hematologic cancers, reinforcing AbbVie’s growing focus on antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs), T-cell engagers (TCEs), and precision oncology platforms. The data showcase promising clinical activity in difficult-to-treat cancers including metastatic prostate cancer, small cell lung cancer, ovarian cancer, head and neck cancer, and multiple myeloma.
AbbVie Highlights Strong Progress in ADC Cancer Therapies
A major focus of AbbVie’s ASCO presentations is its expanding Topoisomerase I inhibitor (Top1i) ADC platform, which targets cancer cells with highly specialized antibody-drug conjugates designed to improve tumor-specific drug delivery while minimizing systemic toxicity.
Among the most closely watched data are results from the first-in-human Phase 1 study of ABBV-969, a potential first-in-class bispecific ADC targeting PSMA and STEAP1 in heavily pretreated patients with metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC). The study demonstrated a confirmed 45% objective response rate among evaluable patients, while 67% achieved at least a 50% reduction in prostate-specific antigen levels. Researchers also observed a manageable safety profile in patients with advanced disease who had already received multiple prior treatments.
AbbVie also reported promising findings for ABBV-706, an investigational SEZ6-directed ADC being studied in small cell lung cancer (SCLC). In a Phase 1 monotherapy cohort, second-line SCLC patients receiving the recommended dose achieved an impressive 82% objective response rate, a notable result in a cancer type historically associated with poor prognosis and limited treatment advances.
Additional presentations highlighted encouraging antitumor activity for Telisotuzumab adizutecan (Temab-A), a c-Met-targeted ADC being investigated in platinum-resistant ovarian cancer, head and neck squamous cell carcinoma, and other advanced solid tumors. Researchers believe the therapy may have broad potential across multiple biomarker-defined cancer populations.
T-Cell Engager Program Shows Potential in Multiple Myeloma
Beyond ADCs, AbbVie also showcased progress in its immuno-oncology portfolio through data on etentamig, an investigational BCMA x CD3 T-cell engager being evaluated for relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma. The therapy is specifically designed to redirect immune T-cells toward malignant plasma cells expressing BCMA, a key target in blood cancer therapy.
In heavily pretreated patients previously exposed to BCMA-directed CAR-T therapies, etentamig achieved a 64% objective response rate, while minimal residual disease negativity was observed in a majority of evaluable patients. Researchers also noted a favorable safety profile, with cytokine release syndrome events remaining limited to low-grade severity despite the absence of step-up dosing strategies.
The findings support AbbVie’s broader strategy to expand immune-based cancer therapies capable of addressing treatment resistance in relapsed hematologic malignancies. Industry experts believe next-generation T-cell engager technologies may play an increasingly important role in future blood cancer treatment algorithms.
Precision Oncology Pipeline Continues Rapid Expansion
AbbVie stated that its oncology pipeline now includes more than 35 investigational medicines across numerous clinical studies targeting both blood cancers and solid tumors. The company emphasized its strategy of attacking cancer “from inside and outside the cell” through diversified treatment modalities including ADCs, multispecific antibodies, CAR-T therapies, and immuno-oncology approaches.
The broad ASCO presence reflects the company’s growing investment in precision oncology, where treatments are increasingly tailored to specific tumor biology and molecular characteristics. AbbVie believes combining targeted therapies with advanced biologic platforms may improve patient outcomes in cancers that currently have limited treatment options.
